Angel Somarriba

Angel Somarriba is a teacher, writer, and actor hard at work creating a fiction podcast company, entitled, Dream Land Media, he believes that radio dramas are about to return to their glorious form. He runs a literary journal called, The Haiven House. (Releases Yearly) Angel has been a part of the DFW theatre community for several years spanning many roles such as The Cat in the Hat (Seussical) Henry Jekyll/Hyde (Jekyll and Hyde) Ramon De La Vega/Zorro (Zorro the Musical) Aladdin (Tribute to Aladdin) Alonso (The Tempest) Pheobus De Martin (Hunchback of Notre Dame) which earned him a Column award nomination for best actor in a supporting role. Angel stands on the principle of needing to take a great risk to tell a greater story. He holds a BFA in Creative Writing from Full Sail University and is pursuing his MFA in Screenwriting at Regent University. Angel has also trained for two years with Adam Findley learning the art of character development. Above all this, is his faith, teaching, and storytelling to glorify Jesus.

Master Class 1 - Story Circle & Worldbuilding

September 14th, 2024: 2-4 PM $30

Students will gain a deeper understanding of story structure and what goes into building a three-dimensional world for your story. They will learn the basics of creating a story bible and crafting a character in depth. They will leave with a newfound confidence in how to tell the story only they can tell!

Master Class 2 - Intro to Podcast Writing

October 12th, 2024: 2-4 PM $30

It is no secret that the industry is changing! As creatives, we must learn to adapt to the world around us. That means understanding the next generation. In the world of TikTok and six-second videos, it is harder nowadays to hook an audience. In this class, students will dive into the history of radio dramas and learn how to write and format their podcasts. To capture the attention of the new ‘multitasking’ generation.

Master Class 3 - Character Development

November 9th, 2024: 2-4 PM $30

Students will dive deep into a monologue and learn what makes a character tick. Students will learn to tap into their curiosity and truly understand what it means to live truthfully/freely under imaginary circumstances. Students will learn to leave themselves at the door approach any piece without an agenda and rely on their instincts to craft a role. Bring a monologue you’d like to work on.

Master Class 4 - Heart of an Artist

December 14th, 2024: 2-3 PM $30

In this class, students will learn to understand their God-given gift and utilize it for good. Each student will craft a credo with eight life lessons they will abide by in their creative career pursuit.
